For Loving Me…

Posted in Poems on April 15, 2008 by maldivianpoet

Thank you for loving me

For the flowers in the window

Those whites, the pinks and blues

And for your aura that filled my days

Thank you for keeping me

For placing my hand in yours

And for guiding me to see

Colours to which I was blind before

Thank you for taking me in

Into a shelter within your grace

That kept me safe from all that’s been

For making your warmth my home

Thank you for consoling me

Convincing me, I wasn’t alone

That you’d guide me through storms

For helping me see the glow

Thank you for loving me

For the life that made me grow

For the flowers, the warmth, the home

And for the love that made me whole

Talk to Me

Posted in Poems on August 2, 2007 by maldivianpoet

Talk to me about the northern lights

About their azure, emerald green

Talk to me about lying on grass

Observing the luminosity

Talk to me about waking up

To the sound of early singers

Talk to me about the sun in the window

And the colours of its rays you see

Talk to me about the tint of yellow

of the daffodils in your garden

Talk to me about their bloom and scent

and the butterflies in the eve

Talk to me about the evening breeze

on a day in late July

Talk to me about the weeping willows

And the lilies that float in glee

Talk to me about what you see

About beautiful simplicities

Talk to me about everything

Things simple yet so divine

Walk Afar

Posted in Poems on May 7, 2007 by maldivianpoet

Leave the reeds in the flowing stream

Swaying to the harmony

Should I leave the floating lilies too

Should I turn and walk afar?

Used to sit amongst the willows

In a place where I belonged

Should I leave the noveltly in the air

Should I turn and walk afar?

With the singing bluebirds above

And the glinting dew on leaves

Should I leave the moist grass behind

Should I turn and walk afar?

Where the rays embrace the valleys

Where the marigolds grow in bliss

Should I leave the soaring ravens?

Should I turn and walk afar?

A Song

Posted in Poems on March 12, 2007 by maldivianpoet

A pretty yellow bird sat at the window

Every morning, sang to me a sweet song

Giving me hope to wake up, smiling

And to stroll along an alley leading afar

The yellow bird sang to me of faith

Sang; He’ll protect me from the glaring sun

And will give me strength to stand so tall

After every blow that comes my way

The yellow bird sang to me of hope

Sang; the world conspires to help me grow

And that my angels would guide me through

To help me reach my home and destiny

The yellow bird sang to me of love

To love all which I am being blessed with

And sang to love the buds and blooms

To help me be content with life

The yellow bird’s song would lead me through

With a faith to fight through the strangest woods

With a hope to bear the sands of time

And to sow with love and watch flowers bloom

Child in Me

Posted in Poems on February 20, 2007 by maldivianpoet

Do you see a child in my eyes?

A girl, swimming hard in the ocean

Or a girl who’s content in her garden

Where the blue birds sit singing by her side?

Can you hear a child in my words?

A girl so pleased with her paper boats

Or a girl who’s wounded by the broken glass

Who is fighting her way through the storm?

Did you feel a child in my aura?

A girl who sees no danger ahead

Or a wise girl who waters her flowers

With patience and pride for their bloom?

From a girl I’ll grow into a woman

A woman, strong like my mother

With the memory of her garden and paper boats

Who waters her flowers with glee

You Make Me Whole

Posted in Poems on February 9, 2007 by maldivianpoet

Through your eyes I see colours

Colours that paint my future

The shades of sapphire, azure and blue

You colour my hopes and dreams

From your hands you calmed the storm

From the waves that soared up high

You eased the wind and let me sleep

Through tranquil nights in peace

From your heart you showed me the way

The way towards my home

You raised a bridge on broken glass

For me to walk on safety

Your eyes, my immortal guide

Your hands, they shield me from the dark

Your heart it gives me faith

And forever, you make me whole

For  LA; for coming into our lives and giving me something I’ve always dreamed of- a more meaningful life.

Stronger

Posted in Poems on February 9, 2007 by maldivianpoet

I’m stronger than the child within me

The child that cries lonely in the dark

Who feels pain after an unkind expedition

On the dusty road to destiny

I’m stronger in the penetrating heat

In the sun thats known to burn away the soul

I will burn but the scars will give me hope

Since I’ve known that life will weaken me

I cry in weakness but the tears show me light

The strength that keeps me striving on

In search of the place that I’ll reside

The home that I can sleep for a lifetime

I am still the child that I once was

In a spirit a little bolder than I once owned

Sometimes I’m weak, helpless and lost

But I’m stronger than who I used to be

Thankyou

Posted in Poems on February 9, 2007 by maldivianpoet

Thankyou for giving me a ship to sail

in the oceans so vast and deep

With mysterious dangers that lie below

Thankyou for clearing a path for me

Where the crisp autumn leaves once lay

You cut through the grass and cleared the lane

I no longer dread to grow

Thankyou for giving me wings to soar

Through the greenest of canopies

And the heaven made clouds and rays of the sun

I no longer fear to fly

Thankyou for helping my garden grow

With blossoming tulips in the eve

You scented my day with harmony

I’m no longer afraid to soar

I Am of Worth

Posted in Poems on February 9, 2007 by maldivianpoet

girl.jpg

I can see the stars in the night sky

God exits beyond the heavens

And He guards me through my journey

Through the roads that lead afar

.

I can hear the wind, in the olive leaves

In the trees that line the roads

I enjoy the songs of the nightingales

And find peace and tranquility

.

I can write my thoughts word by word

From the abyss of my mind

However strange, bizarre or odd

I will feel no guilt or shame

.

I can feel peace, uniqueness and strength

In the stars, the trees and my words

I’m worthy of charm, wisdom and faith

And I know that I’m of worth

Tears of a Woman

Posted in Poems on February 9, 2007 by maldivianpoet

tears.jpg

After every treacherous storm

A tear trickles down her cheekTill the thunder and gale has gone

And for a light she’ll forever seek

.

With each scar on her tender skin

She’ll sit alone in pain

With cries trembling within

Till a day sees the sun again

.

She’ll face the day anew

Disguising her ache and grief

With courage and strength so true

In search of a joy so brief

.

A soul remains in her eyes

The worth and value of a woman

Her noble, righteous sacrifice

The dying essence of a woman

.
